To continue studying the teachings of Joe Mizzi and comparing them to Catholic doctrine. The next article we'll read is The Bible is the Word of God.
I can honestly say that there is nothing in that article which contradicts Catholic doctrine. However, it does not go far enough. The Bible is the Word of God. But Sacred Tradition is also the Word of God.
The Church teaches as follows:
80 "Sacred Tradition and Sacred Scripture, then, are bound closely together, and communicate one with the other. For both of them, flowing out from the same divine well-spring, come together in some fashion to form one thing, and move towards the same goal." Each of them makes present and fruitful in the Church the mystery of Christ, who promised to remain with his own "always, to the close of the age".
And this is in perfect conformity with Scripture which says:
1 Thessalonians 2:13
King James Version (KJV)
13For this cause also thank we God without ceasing, because, when ye received the word of God which ye heard of us, ye received it not as the word of men, but as it is in truth, the word of God, which effectually worketh also in you that believe.
Note how the Word of God was heard. Therefore, St. Paul is not talking of Scripture. If you doubt me, here's another passage:
Remember them which have the rule over you, who have spoken unto you the word of God: whose faith follow, considering the end of their conversation.
The only other thing I would mention, is that I recognized God's word in Scripture, because the Catholic Church taught me.
Any comments?
Sincerely,
De Maria
