Fr. John's homily, Aug 28, 2012

Father John's homily was great today.  Apparently, his housekeeper is in the hospital for the next two months, keep her in your prayers.  The replacement is on vacation for a week.

So, Fr. John is learning that tupperware containers have to be washed or you'll wind up with a hefty supply of penicillin.  He's agreed to supply antibiotics to anyone who is sick in the Parish.  Perhaps that is his subtle plea for someone to come and wash the dishes for him.

In today's homily, Fr. John spoke at length about St. Augustine, who's feastday it is.  He mentioned that St. Augustine wrote in an easy to understand form of Latin unlike St. Thomas Aquinas.  He said St. Augustine was a great source of hope for people who convert later in life as St. Augustine achieved the pinnacle of holiness.  He is a Doctor of the Church.  The Doctor of Grace.

Then Fr. John spoke about Tradition.  And how necessary it is for us to keep Tradition and Scripture.  He mentioned this because the First Reading is from the 2nd Letter of St. Paul to the Thessalonians, where he says, "hold the traditions we have given you, by word and epistle."

Fr. John is the Pastor of Prince of Peace Catholic Community and one of the greatest homilist you will ever hear.

Sincerely,

De Maria
