Catholics twist the Word of God.
You are wrong. It is Protestants which twist the Word of God.
Two examples.
Protestants say, "No traditions!"
Scripture says, "hold the traditions" (2 Thess 2:15).
Protestants say, "by faith alone!".
Scripture says, "not by faith only" and "faith alone is dead" (James 2:17;24).
"Not of works" equals faith alone.
That is a misunderstanding of Scripture. That simply means we don't save ourselves by our works. It is God who saves those who work.
Luke 18:9
King James Version (KJV)9 And he spake this parable unto certain which trusted in themselves that they were righteous, and despised others:
Connect the dots. You're confusing the result of salvation with salvation itself. None of your works merit or help merit you salvation.You are confusing your own faith with God's mercy. It is God who saves those who obey Him and do the Commandments:
Exodus 20:6
King James Version (KJV)6 And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments.
We don't save ourselves. But if we don't obey God, we won't be saved:
Hebrews 5:9Sincerely,
King James Version (KJV)9 And being made perfect, he became the author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey him;
De Maria
