Lutero:
How do you know that for certain?
Tradition, Scripture and History show us.
The NT church had no priests,
Yes, it did. First of all, we are a nation of Priests:
1 Peter 2:9
King James Version (KJV)
9 But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light;
Second, the people whom you refer to as "priests" are our "elders" in other words, our "elder priests". And reserved to them is the sacerdotal ministry:
Romans 15:16
King James Version (KJV)
16That I should be the minister of Jesus Christ to the Gentiles, ministering (hierourgeo) the gospel of God, that the offering up of the Gentiles might be acceptable, being sanctified by the Holy Ghost.
Here it is explicit in the original Greek, which loses something in the translation to English:
hierourgeĊ
1) to minister in the manner of a priest, minister in priestly service
a) of those who defend the sanctity of the law by undergoing a violent death
b) of the preaching of the gospel
And also:
1 Timothy 4:14
Neglect not the gift that is in thee, which was given thee by prophecy, with the laying on of the hands of the presbytery.
Presbytery means priesthood.
I'm going to go through all of your list, but I'll invert the order of the next two.
Hebrews 13:10
no altars,
King James Version (KJV)
10 We have an altar, whereof they have no right to eat which serve the tabernacle.
Note what this simple verse implies.
1. We have an altar, therefore we offer sacrifice.
2. We eat the sacrifice which is offered at our altar.
3. Those who do not believe in our sacrifice have no right to eat at our sacrifice. That means you, too, Protestants.
We have one Sacrifice, the once for all sacrifice of Jesus Christ which is applied to all who eat of the Eucharist.
no daily sacrifices,
,Jesus Christ established the office of the Pope and it continues to this day:
Hebrews 10:25-31
King James Version (KJV)
25 Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.
26 For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins,
27 But a certain fearful looking for of judgment and fiery indignation, which shall devour the adversaries.
28 He that despised Moses' law died without mercy under two or three witnesses:
29 Of how much sorer punishment, suppose ye, shall he be thought worthy, who hath trodden under foot the Son of God, and hath counted the blood of the covenant, wherewith he was sanctified, an unholy thing, and hath done despite unto the Spirit of grace?
30 For we know him that hath said, Vengeance belongeth unto me, I will recompense, saith the Lord. And again, The Lord shall judge his people.
31 It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.
no pope
Matthew 16:18-19
King James Version (KJV)
18 And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.
19 And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.
1 Corinthians 11:26-28
no mass,
King James Version (KJV)
26 For as often as ye eat this bread, and drink this cup, ye do shew the Lord's death till he come.
27 Wherefore whosoever shall eat this bread, and drink this cup of the Lord, unworthily, shall be guilty of the body and blood of the Lord.
28 But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of that bread, and drink of that cup.
no rosary,That's true. There is no, so called, "altar call" either. But many Protestants believe in that.
The Rosary is a prayer and a technique for studying by internalizing the life of Christ and His mother which is from Scripture.
no statues,
Exodus 25:18
King James Version (KJV)
18 And thou shalt make two cherubims of gold, of beaten work shalt thou make them, in the two ends of the mercy seat.
Prayer to deceased saints is communication with deceased saints. Jesus Christ is our example:
no prayer to the deceased saints...
Matthew 17:2-4
King James Version (KJV)
2 And was transfigured before them: and his face did shine as the sun, and his raiment was white as the light.3 And, behold, there appeared unto them Moses and Elias talking with him.4 Then answered Peter, and said unto Jesus, Lord, it is good for us to be here: if thou wilt, let us make here three tabernacles; one for thee, and one for Moses, and one for Elias.
None of the Protestant doctrines which you follow in rejection of Catholic doctrine. But all Catholic doctrine is in line with Scripture.
none of it ..
Sincerely,
De Maria
