If you want to be saved, you must suffer with Christ. That's in Scripture.

VG: I am sorry but that would be your religion that teaches you can atone for sins through suffering.

Let's read the Scripture:

1 Peter 4:1
Forasmuch then as Christ hath suffered for us in the flesh, arm yourselves likewise with the same mind: for he that hath suffered in the flesh hath ceased from sin;

You must have conveniently forgot that tidbit. I'm not surprised.
