You admit that the New Testament is without error. Therefore, you admit the infallibility of the Catholic Church.

MICHAEL TAYLOR February 12, 2015 at 8:05 am@James,Um, that’s what the logic of *your* argument entails. Then you misunderstand the argument. Let’s back up a bit.The RC claim is that the RC church is infallible. Proof? None.
The infallible Catholic Church wrote the New Testament. You admit that the New Testament is without error. Therefore, you admit the infallibility of the Catholic Church.
But there is an argument that is used to argue to that conclusion. It usually argues from the reliability of the NT manuscripts, then infers from these that Jesus intended to establish a church that has an address (Rome), and that he endowed said church with infallibility. So if Rome declares itself infallible, it is, because infallible Rome says so.
It is because Jesus said so:
Matthew 16:18 And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.
My point is that all those premises are *fallible* statements made by *fallible* people and therefore cannot yield an *infallible* conclusion.
The Catholic Teaching is that these statements are founded upon the infallible Word of Jesus Christ.

Why do protest-ants ALWAYS assume that the Catholic Church means Roman Catholic Church? "Rome" didn't proclaim infallibility, Christ promised St. Peter that He would guide His Church. St. Peter WAS in Rome but it wasn't the people of Rome who declared "infallibility", it was Christ. Why is this so hard to understand from Scriptures?

    God Bless you De Maria
