Saved by grace in the Sacraments - 13

 GR,
Please post where St. Paul mentions "faith alone". The only place I see "faith alone" it is rejected as a means of justification: James 2:24 King James Version 24 Ye see then how that by works a man is justified, and not by faith only.

Saved by grace in the Sacraments - 12

 De Maria

 GR,
Who says, "I'm saved by faith alone?" (an attitude of pride which contradicts Scripture) And who says, "I judge no myself, but Christ is my Judge?" (the Catholic attitude and the one found in Scripture ) 1 Corinthians 4:2-4 King James Version 2 Moreover it is required in stewards, that a man be found faithful. 3 But with me it is a very small thing that I should be judged of you, or of man's judgment: yea, I judge not mine own self. 4 For I know nothing by myself; yet am I not hereby justified: but he that judgeth me is the Lord.

Saved by grace in the Sacraments - 11

MM,
You said, "read the NT like a child"?
That goes against Scripture. Here's what Scripture says: Hebrews 5:13 For every one that useth milk is unskilful in the word of righteousness: for he is a babe. So, you should grow up. Yes, God wants us to be perfect as He is perfect. And yes, we can be thus. Jesus says: Matthew 19:26 But Jesus beheld them, and said unto them, With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible. Do you have enough faith to obey Christ on His Command to be perfect? Do you think that if you do your best to be perfect and yet fail, that Christ will condemn you for it? Luke 18:13 And the publican, standing afar off, would not lift up so much as his eyes unto heaven, but smote upon his breast, saying, God be merciful to me a sinner. 14 I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other: for every one that exalteth himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted.

Saved by grace in the Sacraments -10

 PB,
Hm? Find the words grace alone (i.e. sola gratia) or faith alone (sola fide) in Scripture. You won't find them because they contradict the Word of God. The Catholic Church has always taught that everything is initially by grace. We can't do anything without grace. But we must cooperate with it of our own free will. It is not by grace alone that we are saved.

 De Maria

 JB,
Oh, yea, I forgot to say, yes, it is trusting in Jesus Christ and His Sacrifice on the Cross which saves us. This is exactly why the Catholic Church Teaches us to "join the feast". See the Scripture: 1 Corinthians 5:7..... For even Christ our passover is sacrificed for us: 8 Therefore let us keep the feast,....

JB,
On the contrary, see Titus 3:5 Not by works of righteousness _which we have done_, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost; Notice that we have already done the works of righteousness before we are saved. Notice how this lines up with Matt 25:31-46. It is the sheep who have done the works of righteousness. They are saved. It is the goats which have not done any good works, they are condemned. But the sheep are not saved by their works of righteousness. We can't save ourselves. God saves those who obey His Word. Put it like this. Say a ship is sinking. The Coast Guard comes and says, line up on this side and we will save you. But some say, "I'll line up where ever I want. You don't have any authority over me!" Others line up and are saved. By "lining up" in obedience to the command, they did the works allowed them to be saved.
