Yeah, we believe it. Anything is possible with God

All Things Are Possible for God
Lutero:

Of course they believe it. They believed the Veronica bit and made her a saint.
They believe anything their "rich history and tradition" and "years of discernment" have told them.
Yeah, we believe it. Anything is possible with God:

John 11:26

King James Version (KJV)

26 And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Believest thou this?

We believe the Church of which Scripture speaks:
Ephesians 3:10

King James Version (KJV)

10 To the intent that now unto the principalities and powers in heavenly places might be known by the church the manifold wisdom of God,

And we believe that God loves His Saints and will exhibit His power through them in life and in death:
2 Kings 13:21

King James Version (KJV)

21 And it came to pass, as they were burying a man, that, behold, they spied a band of men; and they cast the man into the sepulchre of Elisha: and when the man was let down, and touched the bones of Elisha, he revived, and stood up on his feet.

Sincerely,

De Maria

We consider it a wonderful exhibition of the power of God over life and death

Lutero:

WHY did those graves open up DeMaria?
Because they are the Saints of God. Just as St. Denis is a St. of God.

Psalm 116:15

King James Version (KJV)

15 Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his saints.

And were those who came out of the graves missing their heads?
That detail wasn't mentioned.

God is not a "god" of the macabre!
You consider it macabre for a saint to walk with his head in his hands. We consider it a wonderful exhibition of the power of God over life and death. I don't consider it macabre that the Saints of God came walking out of their graves for the same reason.

John 11:26

King James Version (KJV)

26 And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Believest thou this?

Sincerely,

De Maria

  • 7QT's Biblical reasons for prayer to the Saints

Because the Saints are alive in Christ

    Scripture says:
John 11:25... he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live:

Therefore, the Saints who died with Christ are alive in Christ

Because we are one Body in Christ

    Romans 12:5
So we, being many, are one body in Christ, and every one members one of another.

Whether dead or alive all the saints are one in Christ

Because Scripture commands all Saints to pray for each other

    1 Timothy 2:1 I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men;

Therefore, the Saints intercede for all men

Because the prayer of a just man is very effective

James 5:16.... The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.

The Saints in heaven are just men who have been perfected by God therefore, their prayers are highly efficacious.

Because he that prays in the name of a Saint is acceptable to God

Matthew 10:41...he that receiveth a righteous man in the name of a righteous man shall receive a righteous man's reward.

Therfore, those who honor God's saints will in turn be honored like saints

Because, the Saints are our brothers in Christ

Meet Your Mother: An Introduction to MaryGalatians 4:5 To redeem them that were under the law,  that we might receive the adoption of sons. 6 And because  ye are sons,  God hath sent forth the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father. 7 Wherefore thou art no more a servant, but a son; and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ.

All the Saints are sons of God and therefore, brothers in Christ

    Saints imitate Christ.

    Romans 8:34
... It is Christ that died,  yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us.

Christ intercedes for us from heaven. Saints are Saints because they imitated Christ during their lives. They don't stop imitating Christ when they are in heaven.

    Dead men can walk

    Calvino reference to St. James:

So you believe that he walked with his head in his hands?

    Lutero:

But they are worshiping myths.....is not this and  St. Vernonica an example...Mysticism all over the RCC.
It is you who worship myths. If you don't believe that dead men can walk, what do you do with this part of your Bible?

    Matthew 27:52-53

    King James Version (KJV)

52 And the graves were opened; and many bodies of the saints which slept arose,
53 And came out of the graves after his resurrection, and went into the holy city, and appeared unto many.

    Nothing is impossible with God.

    Sincerely,

    De Maria

    Set all afire

    St. Paul is himself unmarried

    He that is unmarried
cares for the things that belong to the Lord
How he may please the Lord

    Lutero:

    Yet you take a suggestion--
    Exactly.
a suggestion that Paul himself later said was not practical for everyone (1 Cor 7:9)
    So did Jesus:

    Matthew 19:11-12
    King James Version (KJV)
11 But he said unto them, All men cannot receive this saying, save they to whom it is given.

12 For there are some eunuchs, which were so born from their mother's womb: and there are some eunuchs, which were made eunuchs of men: and there be eunuchs, which have made themselves eunuchs for the kingdom of heaven's sake. He that is able to receive it, let him receive it.

--and turn it into a commandment.
Really? When?  The Church calls it a discipline.

At the same time, you ignore other commandments also purportedly from Paul (1 Tim 3:2,12; Titus 1:5-9).

The passages in Titus and 1 Timothy indicate that one who is not married is not eligible to be a bishop or a deacon at all.
And thus did St. Paul disqualify himself?

1 Cor 7:8 I say therefore to the unmarried and widows, it is good for them if they abide even as I.

9 But if they cannot contain, let them marry: for it is better to marry than to burn.

We don't read the Scriptures in a vacuum. If St. Paul is himself unmarried then he would hardly disqualify an unmarried man from being a Leader in the Church in any capacity.

    1 Timothy 4:12
    King James Version (KJV)
12 Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity.

    Sincerely,

    De Maria

You do not believe that Christ gave His Flesh that we might eat of it

    1 Corinthians 10:16

    Lutero:
Since Christ is bodily in heaven and is not corruptible, you cannot eat Him.
The Hidden Battle You give us a choice. Believe you or believe Christ:

    John 6:54

    King James Version (KJV)

54 Whoso eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, hath eternal life; and I will raise him up at the last day.

As for me, I believe Christ.

    Your church brainwashed you
and now you defend their theology
when you are unable to explain
why your senses failed in regards to the wafer-god
I don't rely upon my senses. I rely upon Christ.

    2 Corinthians 5:7
For we walk by faith, not by sight

You do not believe that Christ is bodily up in heaven and incorruptible?
Yes. You do not believe that Christ gave His Flesh that we might eat of it and have eternal life?

    That's what Christ said:

    John 6:54

    King James Version (KJV)

54 Whoso eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, hath eternal life; and I will raise him up at the last day.

    Sincerely,

Figure out why you are having such a hard time understanding plain English

    Lutero:

Easy to follow. The CCC does not teach that Peter was a bishop of Rome. Neither does it teach that Christ is literally or physically in the eucharist.
I have already shown you that it does. As has your fellow Protestant. So, you need to go through and parse the words and figure out why you are having such a hard time understanding plain English.

    Sincerely,

    De Maria

I didn't say I was never a part of Catholicism

    Lutero:
and when I started studying Scriptures.. the inconsistencies of Catholicism where glaring.

I am a little confused about your witness.... you first say...
1."I was not Catholic when I began to study the Christian faith."

    then you say
    2. "It was only when I returned to Catholicism"

How can you return to something you never where a part of?
I didn't say I was never a part of Catholicism. I was baptized and confirmed a Catholic when I was 6 months old. I became atheist around my 13th birthday. I returned to Christ around my 25th birthday and to Catholicism about my 27th.

    Sincerely,

The St. Paul Center's Journey Through Scripture
parish Bible study, Genesis to Jesus,
is being presented in Houston, TX.

    Dear Friend in Christ,
Genesis to Jesus, the foundational study of the St. Paul Center's Journey Through Scripture parish-based Bible study programs is being presented at Christ the Redeemer Catholic Church in Houston, Texas in 12 sessions beginning:
Tuesday, September 2nd, 2014 from 10 AM to noon (Spanish)
    Tuesday, September 2nd2014 from 7 - 9 PM (English)

Journey Through Scripture is a dynamic, parish-based Bible study series incorporating live presentation, multimedia, small group discussion and some outside reading.  It’s a way for ordinary Catholics to grow in their knowledge of the Scriptures and deepen their understanding of the riches of the Catholic faith.

Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI regularly quoted St. Jerome's famous dictum that ignorance of Scripture is ignorance of Christ. If you've ever wondered what the Bible is all about but didn't know where to start, "Genesis to Jesus" is for you. It looks at all of the covenants that God made with his people through figures such as Adam, Noah, Abraham, Moses and David. And it shows how each of these covenants points forward to, and is fulfilled by, Christ and his Church.

Genesis to Jesus will enrich your understanding and love of God's Word. But don’t just take my word for it. Listen to a past participant…someone just like you:

"This was the best study I have been to since
I became Catholic almost thirty years ago"

'Genesis to Jesus' will be offered at three different times:
-Tuesday evenings from 7 -9 PM beginning September 2nd, 2014 (English)
    -Thursday mornings
from 10 AM - noon beginning September 4th (English)

    Catholic Homeschooling

When you love your kids and you can't get enough of them, Homeschool is the answer.

Kids love their parents. Don't believe the hype that kids prefer toys and tv and other distractions to their parents. Parents are number one in every kid's heart. And if your kids are number one in your heart, homeschooling is the way to show it.

    Homeschooling Basics

What does one need in order to homeschool?

    1. Socialization. Many people are discouraged by their family and friends when they announce their decision to homeschool their children. The main objection being that children need "socialization". This is not without foundation. Children do need to make friends and to play with other children. But "socialization" is a two edged sword. There is an ugly side to socialization, it is called "negative peer pressure".

What is negative peer pressure? It is the influence which children's friends have on them to force them to conform to behavior such as to use drugs, dress in a particular manner, and sometimes to commit crimes.

Homeschooling is the cure for negative peer pressure since parents become their children's best friends and because parents get to hand pick their children's playmates.

    2. Know the Law. Homeschooling is permitted in almost every state of the union. Look up the law and make sure you abide by it. In Texas, for instance, we had to register as a private school. We are also required to teach reading, spelling, grammar, math and citizenship.

    Homeschooling laws by state

    3.  Select a curriculum. My wife and I decided to make our own curriculum.  We bought used books from Catholic Schools, libraries,  used bookstores and any other place that we could find them.  We  frequently  checked books from the Public library, an excellent free source for  educational books.  Our curriculum is very flexible.  We try to accomodate the curriculum to the child.

If you feel you need assistance in creating your own curriculum however,  there is a whole industry out there waiting to meet your homeschooling needs. Two well known Catholic curriculum providers are Seton and Kolbe.  But there are many more.  Just Google "Catholic Homeschool curriculums."

If you have any questions about homeschooling, feel free to email me at mdechristi@gmail.com.  Or leave a comment.  I'd love to start an faq section with your question on it.

    Sincerely,

    De Maria

How does Scripture, which is inspired by the Holy Spirit, deflect us from Christ?

    Lutero:
Unbelievers will always find ways to debunk Christianity, but it is sad that some statements from Christians are utterly ludicrous like your #3.
But in regard to #1 and #4, in all honesty I believe that RCs are risking their own faith, since both of those dogmas tend to deflect the focus of faith from Christ (IMHO).
    How so?

    1. saying they eat the flesh and drink the blood of our Saviour at communion every MassWith respect to this question, Jesus Himself said:

    John 6:54

    King James Version (KJV)

54 Whoso eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, hath eternal life; and I will raise him up at the last day.

How could that possibly deflect from faith in Christ?

    4. Over veneration of Mary, calling her the Mother of God, the Spouse of the Holy Spirit, the Queen of Heaven,

The Ark of the New Covenant, Giver of all Graces, Mother of all.

    Scripture says:

    Mother of God
    Luke 1:43

    King James Version (KJV)

43 And whence is this to me, that the mother of my Lord should come to me?

the Spouse of the Holy Spirit,

    Luke 1:35

    King James Version (KJV)
35 And the angel answered and said unto her, The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God.

    the Queen of Heaven,

    Revelation 12:1

    King James Version (KJV)

And there appeared a great wonder in heaven; a woman clothed with the sun, and the moon under her feet, and upon her head a crown of twelve stars:

The Ark of the New Covenant,

    Revelation 11:19-Rev 12:1

    King James Version (KJV)

19 And the temple of God was opened in heaven, and there was seen in his temple the ark of his testament: and there were lightnings, and voices, and thunderings, and an earthquake, and great hail. 12:1 And there appeared a great wonder in heaven; a woman clothed with the sun, and the moon under her feet, and upon her head a crown of twelve stars:

    Giver of all Graces,

Is she not the Mother of Jesus Christ, who is all grace?

    Mother of all.

    Revelation 12:17

    King James Version (KJV)

17 And the dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ.

How does Scripture, which is inspired by the Holy Spirit, deflect us from Christ?

    Sincerely,

    De Maria

Is she not the Mother of Jesus Christ, who is all grace?

    Lutero:

Unfortunately, there are way too many unlearned folks in the world that think that the RCC is representative of Christianity. They need to get into the word of God for the truth of the matter. Yes, the false church soils the reputation of the true.
You said it. The Catholic Church is the True Church. And the non Catholics are soiling the name of Christ.

Now, let us go through the OP.

    Calvino:
There was this thread going around a few days ago intitled
The ignorance of "ex-Catholics" soiling the reputation of the Church

I think its the other way around, RC are spoiling the Christian name by
    1. saying they eat the flesh and drink the blood of our Saviour at communion every Mass
    1 Corinthians 11:23-30

    King James Version (KJV)

23 For I have received of the Lord that which also I delivered unto you, that the Lord Jesus the same night in which he was betrayed took bread:
24 And when he had given thanks, he brake it, and said, Take, eat: this is my body, which is broken for you: this do in remembrance of me.
25 After the same manner also he took the cup, when he had supped, saying, this cup is the new testament in my blood: this do ye, as oft as ye drink it, in remembrance of me.
26 For as often as ye eat this bread, and drink this cup, ye do shew the Lord's death till he come.
27 Wherefore whosoever shall eat this bread, and drink this cup of the Lord, unworthily, shall be guilty of the body and blood of the Lord.
28 But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of that bread, and drink of that cup.
29 For he that eateth and drinketh unworthily, eateth and drinketh damnation to himself, not discerning the Lord's body.
30 For this cause many are weak and sickly among you, and many sleep.

    2. by offering a re presentation of the pure victim Jesus Christ our Saviour to our God the Father for forgiveness of their sins and those of the whole world at every Mass.
    John 6:51

    King James Version (KJV)

51 I am the living bread which came down from heaven: if any man eat of this bread, he shall live for ever: and the bread that I will give is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world.

    3. Some of them claim to time travel back in time at mass and they are at Calvary and connect themselves to Christ's suffering on the Cross.
I'm not exactly sure what this is about. But there is no need for us to time travel. God provides for us His flesh that we may participate in the Sacrifice of Calvary.

    4. Over veneration of Mary, calling her the Mother of God,

    Luke 1:43

    King James Version (KJV)

43 And whence is this to me, that the mother of my Lord should come to me?

and calling her the Spouse of the Holy Spirit,

These are just a few of the things, I read a non Chrisitan say Christians eat their God.
That is true. We eat of our Lord, Jesus Christ and thereby partake of the Divine Nature:
    2 Peter 1:4

    King James Version (KJV)

Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.

    Sincerely,

    De Maria

7 QT's about Prayer to Mary in the Bible

Does the Bible say that we should pray to Mary?  I believe so.  Tell me if you agree.

Turn your Bible to Luke 1:
[28] And the angel being come in, said unto her: Hail, full of grace, the Lord is with thee: blessed art thou among women. [29] Who having heard, was troubled at his saying, and thought with herself what manner of salutation this should be.

    Let's break this down:
    Who is the Angel Gabriel?
    1. an angel is a messenger of God. That is what the word, angel, means.
    2. this angel, Gabriel, is one of the four angels that stands before the throne of God.

    So what?  Well,
    1. God sent this angel to Mary.
    2. Since this angel is a messenger of God's, God sent Him to deliver a message.
    3. Therefore, the angel was not speaking on his own, but was communicating God's message to Mary.
    4. If we skip down to verse 28, we see that this was a message of praise (i.e. blessed art thou).
    5. Therefore God praised Mary through His Angel.

That is great praise indeed. Do you know of any man whose praise is worth more than God's? In other words, what do you value more highly, the praise of man or the praise of God?

But, there's more. God sent the Angel to do His Will. What is His Will. Obviously, God sent the Angel to deliver a message of praise. Therefore it is God's will that the Angels praise Mary.

But what about men?  Is it God's will that men also praise Mary?

    Go to verse:

[41] And it came to pass, that when Elizabeth heard the salutation of Mary, the infant leaped in her womb. And Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Ghost: [42] And she cried out with a loud voice, and said: Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb. [43] And whence is this to me, that the mother of my Lord should come to me? [44] For behold as soon as the voice of thy salutation sounded in my ears, the infant in my womb leaped for joy. [45] And blessed art thou that hast believed, because those things shall be accomplished that were spoken to thee by the Lord.
    Let's break this down:
    1. The Holy Spirit is God the Third Person of the Holy Trinity.
    2. Therefore, God inspired Elisabeth to praise Mary.
    3. This praise is inscribed in the Word of God for all generations.
    4. Since Elisabeth is a member of the human race, then it is safe to conclude that God wills that men praise Mary.
    5. And we find, again, that God praised Mary through His Saint. Saint Elisabeth praised Mary when she was inspired by the Holy Spirit to do so. That means that it is the Holy Spirit's praise which she passed on. That is why Scripture is called the Word of God. Because it is inspired by the Holy Spirit.

Thus, God wills that mankind PRAISE Mary. This is confirmed by Mary herself when she says, "From now on all generations will call me blessed (Luke 1:48)."
