Intention:
By praying this decade, 

may God open our hearts
and minds
to a fuller understanding
of the Doctrines of the Catholic Church.

With the Crucifix
make the Sign of the Cross.

And, since this is

a learning prayer,

let us make the 

Triple Sign:

May the Word of God

be ever on my mind

 (touch the crucifix to your forehead

then your nose

then your your left cheek

then your right cheek) 

On my lips

(touch your nose

your chin

the left corner of your mouth

then the right corner of your mouth)

and in my heart

(cross your heart)

In the name

of the Father,

of the Son

and of the Holy Spirit

(Finish with 

the regular sign 

of the Cross 

i.e. forehead, chest, shoulders)

and still on the Crucifix
pray the Apostle's Creed:

I believe in God,
the Father Almighty,
Creator of Heaven and earth;
and in Jesus Christ,
His only Son Our Lord,
Who was conceived
 by the Holy Spirit,
born of the Virgin Mary,
 suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified,
died, and was buried.
He descended into Hell;
the third day
He rose again from the dead;
He ascended into Heaven,
and sitteth at the right hand of God,
the Father almighty;
from thence He shall come to judge
the living and the dead.
 I believe in the Holy Spirit,
the holy Catholic Church,
the communion of saints,
 the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body
and life everlasting.

On the first big bead
pray the Our Father:

Our Father,
Who art in heaven,
Hallowed be Thy Name.
Thy Kingdom come.
Thy Will be done,
on earth as it is in Heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those
who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil. Amen.

On the next three beads
pray three Hail Mary's:

Hail Mary,
Full of Grace,
The Lord is with thee.
Blessed art thou among women,
and blessed is the fruit
of thy womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary,
Mother of God,
pray for us sinners now,
and at the hour of death.
Amen.

For faith:
Hebrews 11:6
But without faith
it is impossible
to please him: ....

For hope:
Romans 8:24
For we are saved by hope:....

For love:
Romans 13:10
....love is the fulfilling of the law.

Why we keep Sacred Tradition

Sacred Tradition.

 whatsoever I have
commanded you….

We keep
Sacred Tradition
commanded by
Jesus Christ.

First reason:

Jesus built
a Church

and upon this rock

Jesus commanded 
His Church
 to teach

Third:

Inspired by 
the Holy Spirit,
the Church 
taught by word

2 Peter 1:21
For the prophecy

by the will of man:
but holy men of God
 spake as they were moved

us to obey the Church

Scripture teaches
that Tradition
is the Word of God

1 Thessalonians 2:13

 also in you that believe.

Seventh:

Scripture tells

to us

Eighth:

The New Testament
was written
on the basis 
of Tradition

Jesus Christ
did not write
a word of Scripture.
He established a Church,
and commanded
the Church to teach.
The Church wrote
the New Testament
on the basis
of Christ's Teachings.

Scripture says
we need a
guide through
Scripture

Acts 8
30 And Philip
ran thither to him,
and heard him
read the prophet Esaias,
and said,
Understandest thou
what thou readest?
31 And he said,
 How can I,
except some man
should guide me? …

Therefore,
we need the Church
as a sure guide
to understanding Scripture.

Tenth:

Scripture warns
that some verses
can be misunderstood

2 Peter 3:16...
in which are
some things hard
to be understood,
which they
 that are unlearned
 and unstable wrest,
as they do also
the other scriptures,
unto their own destruction.

Therefore, we need
the Church
to teach us
the Word of God.
