Have you ever 'sprung' someone from Purgatory?

Lutero:
RC's: Have you ever 'sprung' someone from Purgatory?
Did you know that every year on All Souls Day, Roman Catholics are able to gain plenary indulgence - one that takes away ALL temporal punishment - for someone in Purgatory? The conditions are relatively easy: confession, communion, and a prayer for the Pope. Roman Catholics are able to redeem one person per year. You can release members of your departed family, friends, neighbors - any one person! This plan also guarantees the Roman Catholic, that those that they have released will also be praying for them when their time comes, and they are in Purgatory. How many souls have you 'sprung' from Purgatory?

Calvino
You have no idea who is in heaven either, but that doesn't stop you praying to them. How very odd.
Yes we do. The Church recognizes individuals whose lived such holy lives that they set examples for others to follow:
Hebrews 6:12

King James Version (KJV)

12 That ye be not slothful, but followers of them who through faith and patience inherit the promises.

Zwingli
Darn, with all their arrogance you would think they would be in here bragging about all the indulgences they have bought to help their families escape the non place. LOL
I don't consider it bragging. I consider it witnessing.

Yes, I pray for the Holy Souls many times a day. Everyday.

Yes.

One a year? We can earn plenary indulgences once a day. And we can offer them for whomever. Besides, we have other prayers which the Saints have said are efficacious for releasing the Souls from Purgatory. Have you ever heard of the Prayer of St. Gertrude the Great?

You can release members of your departed family, friends, neighbors - any one person!
That would be a good trick. Considering we don't know who is in purgatory. We can earn a plenary indulgence and intend it for a Holy Soul in Purgatory. But that soul may have exited Purgatory already. Or may not have ever entered in. God knows to whom He applies it.

This plan also guarantees the Roman Catholic, that those that they have released will also be praying for them when their time comes, and they are in Purgatory.
Yeah. We can pray that God heal those whom we love or that He heals us.
Mark 5:22 And, behold, there cometh one of the rulers of the synagogue, Jairus by name; and when he saw him, he fell at his feet,23 And besought him greatly, saying, My little daughter lieth at the point of death: I pray thee, come and lay thy hands on her, that she may be healed; and she shall live.24 And Jesus went with him; and much people followed him, and thronged him.25 And a certain woman, which had an issue of blood twelve years,26 And had suffered many things of many physicians, and had spent all that she had, and was nothing bettered, but rather grew worse,27 When she had heard of Jesus, came in the press behind, and touched his garment.28 For she said, If I may touch but his clothes, I shall be whole.29 And straightway the fountain of her blood was dried up; and she felt in her body that she was healed of that plague.30 And Jesus, immediately knowing in himself that virtue had gone out of him, turned him about in the press, and said, Who touched my clothes?31 And his disciples said unto him, Thou seest the multitude thronging thee, and sayest thou, Who touched me?32 And he looked round about to see her that had done this thing.33 But the woman fearing and trembling, knowing what was done in her, came and fell down before him, and told him all the truth.34 And he said unto her, Daughter, thy faith hath made thee whole; go in peace, and be whole of thy plague.35 While he yet spake, there came from the ruler of the synagogue's house certain which said, Thy daughter is dead: why troublest thou the Master any further?36 As soon as Jesus heard the word that was spoken, he saith unto the ruler of the synagogue, Be not afraid, only believe.37 And he suffered no man to follow him, save Peter, and James, and John the brother of James.38 And he cometh to the house of the ruler of the synagogue, and seeth the tumult, and them that wept and wailed greatly.39 And when he was come in, he saith unto them, Why make ye this ado, and weep? the damsel is not dead, but sleepeth.40 And they laughed him to scorn. But when he had put them all out, he taketh the father and the mother of the damsel, and them that were with him, and entereth in where the damsel was lying.41 And he took the damsel by the hand, and said unto her, Talitha cumi; which is, being interpreted, Damsel, I say unto thee, arise.42 And straightway the damsel arose, and walked; for she was of the age of twelve years. And they were astonished with a great astonishment.43 And he charged them straitly that no man should know it; and commanded that something should be given her to eat.

BUT! You will object, that is infirmity. Not Purgatory!

Let's skip to Luke 13:
10 And he was teaching in one of the synagogues on the sabbath.11 And, behold, there was a woman which had a spirit of infirmity eighteen years, and was bowed together, and could in no wise lift up herself.12 And when Jesus saw her, he called her to him, and said unto her, Woman, thou art loosed from thine infirmity.13 And he laid his hands on her: and immediately she was made straight, and glorified God.14 And the ruler of the synagogue answered with indignation, because that Jesus had healed on the sabbath day, and said unto the people, There are six days in which men ought to work: in them therefore come and be healed, and not on the sabbath day.15 The Lord then answered him, and said, Thou hypocrite, doth not each one of you on the sabbath loose his ox or his *** from the stall, and lead him away to watering?16 And ought not this woman, being a daughter of Abraham, whom Satan hath bound, lo, these eighteen years, be loosed from this bond on the sabbath day?

Note how infirmity is a bond of Satan's. BUT! You continue to object, "What does that have to do with Purgatory?!!!"

Have you not read in Scripture?

Revelation 2:10

King James Version (KJV)

10 Fear none of those things which thou shalt suffer: behold, the devil shall cast some of you into prison, that ye may be tried; and ye shall have tribulation ten days: be thou faithful unto death, and I will give thee a crown of life.

Purgatory is also Satan's bond. Even Satan does the will of God. Read Job.

How many souls have you 'sprung' from Purgatory?
I hope I have "sprung" thousands. Since the Prayer of St. Gertrude the Great is one of my devotions. And I also visit cemeteries regularly and pray for all the souls there. You never know, God may even have applied prayers towards releasing Protestants from Purgatory. None of you will pray for them.

Sincerely,

De Maria
