The penance the Priest imposes is valid.

Lutero:

So there is no need to dole out penance....Aren't we to emulate CHRIST? He did nothing of the sort....
The Church obeys God. The Church does not tell God what is needed and what isn't.

With regard to what is necessary, the Word of God, in Scripture says:
Acts 26:20

King James Version (KJV)

20 But shewed first unto them of Damascus, and at Jerusalem, and throughout all the coasts of Judaea, and then to the Gentiles, that they should repent and turn to God, and do works meet for repentance.

1 Peter 4:1

King James Version (KJV)

Forasmuch then as Christ hath suffered for us in the flesh, arm yourselves likewise with the same mind: for he that hath suffered in the flesh hath ceased from sin;

And also:
Romans 8:17

King James Version (KJV)

17 And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together.

Therefore, the Church imposes penances in order to assist the people of God to achieve their eternal reward.

Nothing you posted deals with PENANCE, much less does it discuss suffering for our sins....it is speaking of CHRISTIAN suffering...geez louise...
Everything I posted deals with penance. Now, if you will not believe unless I provide explicit texts telling you that the penance the Priest imposes is valid. Then if you want me to believe you that it is not valid, you must provide explicit texts saying that the Priest may not impose penances upon the penitent. Show me from Scripture.

Sincerely,

De Maria
