The Bible and the Church Fathers

Dear Friend in Christ, Our newest Bible study, The Bible and the Church Fathers, is a scripture study from the St. Paul Center's Journey Through Scripture  parish-based Bible study program, is being presented in Houston, Texas. Journey Through Scripture is a dynamic, parish-based Bible study series incorporating live presentation, multimedia, small group discussion and some outside reading.  It’s a way for ordinary Catholics to grow in their knowledge of the Scriptures and deepen their understanding of the riches of the Catholic faith. As with our natural families, Christians want to know who has preceded us in our family tree.  Who are our forebears, and what did they believe and teach?  In The Bible and the Church Fathers, participants will encounter the great teachers of the faith, their writings, their stories (and even their quirks!) We'll discuss their times, their culture, and even the heresies and heretics they had to battle. Not merely a historical overview of the early Church, this study focuses on how the Fathers help us to understand the words of Scripture. In fact, Pope Benedict XVI says that the Fathers lead us into the mysteries of the Word of God and serve as examples for how we should live out those mysteries today.   "Your Team has put together a priceless tool for the new evangelization."  JTS Participant The "Bible and the Church Fathers" will be offered in two separate sessions.  The first beginning on Thursday mornings at 10:00am and the second session beginning at 7:00pm  starting on April 11th, 2013 in Room 201-RE Building at Christ the Redeemer Catholic Church (11507 Huffmeister ~ Houston, TX 77065).  The course will run for six weeks and the lessons run consecutively so please try and make the first meeting of either session to get your materials.    The presenter will be Pat Decker and Anne Wallace.   The registration cost is $30 which includes the workbook and other resource material for your class.  **Make sure to BRING your BIBLE along with your other books to each class.
