They are false teachers. Of course they'll make that claim. Jesus warned the early church false teachers will come in like sheep but underneath are like ravenous wolves. Catholics refuse to listen to Him.

On the contrary, we have listened. That is why we remain with His Church. Whereas, the Protestants are they of which Scripture warns:

2 Timothy 4:3

³ For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears;
