What is better for a man who wants to serve God?

De Maria:

We take every suggestion of Scripture seriously. Scripture says:

1 Corinthians 7:32-34
King James Version (KJV)
32 But I would have you without carefulness. He that is unmarried careth for the things that belong to the Lord, how he may please the Lord:
33 But he that is married careth for the things that are of the world, how he may please his wife.
34 There is difference also between a wife and a virgin. The unmarried woman careth for the things of the Lord, that she may be holy both in body and in spirit: but she that is married careth for the things of the world, how she may please her husband.

That is our Biblical basis for the unmarried priesthood.

Calvin:

What is your biblical basis for construing that suggestion as applying only to priests and not to all believers?
Hi Calvin,

Did I say that this suggestion applied only to Priests?

No, I didn't. But the Magisterium took this verse and used it to base the discipline she imposed upon those men who claim they want to serve God. This Scripture attests that an umarried man will serve God without distraction. Whereas married men will focus more on the interest of their wives than on the interests of God.

Do you reject this teaching of Scripture? Or do you claim to know better than the Word of God on what is better for a man who wants to serve God?

Sincerely,

De Maria
