Faith is not judged by declarations of faith alone

VG:How would you know if your works aren't enough to gain entrance through the Pearly Gates?
God knows. I hope in God. But it is God who judges me.

Sincerely,

De Maria

PG:Or better yet; how would one know if they have enough good works to get out of purgatory.
Luke 12:58 When thou goest with thine adversary to the magistrate, as thou art in the way, give diligence that thou mayest be delivered from him; lest he hale thee to the judge, and the judge deliver thee to the officer, and the officer cast thee into prison.
Luke 12:59 I tell thee, thou shalt not depart thence, till thou hast paid the very last mite.
Again, it is God who knows. Why do Protestant insist on replacing God's judgement. Do you not know that:

Romans 14:10
But why dost thou judge thy brother? or why dost thou set at nought thy brother? for we shall all stand before the judgment seat of Christ.

Sincerely,

De Maria
RB:Or better yet - how would one know if they have the faith that is necessary to gain entrance through the "Pearly Gates"?
PG: My faith is in the Lord; He'll get me there.
Faith is judged by obedience:

Hebrews 5:9

King James Version (KJV)

And being made perfect, he became the author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey him;

Faith is judged in works:
Revelation 22:12-15

King James Version (KJV)

12 And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be.
13 I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last.
14 Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city.
15 For without are dogs, and sorcerers, and whoremongers, and murderers, and idolaters, and whosoever loveth and maketh a lie.

Faith is not judged by declarations of faith alone.

James 2:24

King James Version (KJV)

24 Ye see then how that by works a man is justified, and not by faith only.

Sincerely,

De Maria

  1. How very sad. PG has that American "entitlement salvation" mentality. I pray they discover the truth before it's too late.

    Great post

    1. They kept asking me, "how many works must you do to be saved?" I wish I had remembered to ask, "how much faith does it take?"

It is God who judges both faith and works. And Scripture declares that God judges our faith, by our works.

2 Corinthians 5:10 For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad.

    2. De Mari,

That the first thing I ask in response to any claim about "how many good works must one do..." They don't like being asked "how much faith does it take to enter heaven?"

One of the stumpers I've had success with when talking to people one-on-one or in small groups is whenever the issue of "belief is what matters", I point them to 2 James, where he mentions "even the demons believe...". Their first answer is always:"Well, yeah of course, they were once angels and they saw God but then they rebelled." They just dug their own grave now regarding the important/necessity of obedience (doing good work) to God.

      God Bless!
