Protestants decry a spiritual discernment of Scripture

Lutero:
I gave you EXPLICIT Scripture
Which you twisted to your own destruction.

that refutes your claim that we labor for our salvation!
That Scripture says that we labour to the end of receiving our salvation. Read it again:
1 Timothy 4:9-11

King James Version (KJV)

This is a faithful saying and worthy of all acceptation.
10 For therefore we both labour and suffer reproach, because we trust in the living God, who is the Saviour of all men, specially of those that believe.
11 These things command and teach.

Here...let me quote it for you so you can stop preaching your false gospel of works.

But now apart from the Law the righteousness of God has been manifested, being witnessed by the Law and the Prophets, even the righteousness of God through faith in Jesus Christ for all those who believe; for there is no distinction; (Rom 3:21-22)
Thank you. Now let me read you the context within which that is written:

Romans 2

King James Version (KJV)

Therefore thou art inexcusable, O man, whosoever thou art that judgest: for wherein thou judgest another, thou condemnest thyself; for thou that judgest doest the same things.
But we are sure that the judgment of God is according to truth against them which commit such things.
And thinkest thou this, O man, that judgest them which do such things, and doest the same, that thou shalt escape the judgment of God?
Or despisest thou the riches of his goodness and forbearance and longsuffering; not knowing that the goodness of God leadeth thee to repentance?
But after thy hardness and impenitent heart treasurest up unto thyself wrath against the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of God;
Who will render to every man according to his deeds:
To them who by patient continuance in well doing seek for glory and honour and immortality, eternal life:
But unto them that are contentious, and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness, indignation and wrath,
Tribulation and anguish, upon every soul of man that doeth evil, of the Jew first, and also of the Gentile;
10 But glory, honour, and peace, to every man that worketh good, to the Jew first, and also to the Gentile:
11 For there is no respect of persons with God.

Now to the one who works, his wage is not credited as a favor, but as what is due. But to the one who does not work, but believes in Him who justifies the ungodly, his faith is credited as righteousness, (Rom 4:4-5)

Scripture interprets Scripture. You are interpreting the Scripture according to the doctrines of men which you have been taught.

Let us look at other Scriptures for guidance as to what St. Paul means here. First,
James 2:
20 But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead?
21 Was not Abraham our father justified by works, when he had offered Isaac his son upon the altar?
22 Seest thou how faith wrought with his works, and by works was faith made perfect?
23 And the scripture was fulfilled which saith, Abraham believed God, and it was imputed unto him for righteousness: and he was called the Friend of God.

When did Abraham offer Isaac upon the altar? In Gen 15 or Gen 22? it was in Gen 22. Gen 15:6 says:

Genesis 15:6

King James Version (KJV)

And he believed in the Lord; and he counted it to him for righteousness.

But according to Scripture, this was not fulfilled until Abraham offerred Isaac upon the altar.

Here's more proof that you are reading the false doctrine of faith alone into Scripture. Here is what St. Paul also says about Abraham:

Hebrews 11:8

King James Version (KJV)

By faith Abraham, when he was called to go out into a place which he should after receive for an inheritance, obeyed; and he went out, not knowing whither he went.

When did this happen?

Genesis 12

King James Version (KJV)

Now the Lord had said unto Abram, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father's house, unto a land that I will shew thee:
And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing:
And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed.
So Abram departed, as the Lord had spoken unto him; and Lot went with him: and Abram was seventy and five years old when he departed out of Haran.

According to St. Paul, Abraham did this by faith. Therefore then, if faith alone were a true doctrine, God would have no need to test Abraham. He would have been saved from the time he was called.

But faith alone is a false doctrine, as has been proven.

But if it is by grace, it is no longer on the basis of works, otherwise grace is no longer grace. (Rom 11:6)

Now that we have proven that faith alone is a false doctrine. To what is St. Paul referring here?

1st. To the fact that the Jews had an agreement with God. They literally considered themselves to be working for their salvation:

Exodus 19:4-8

King James Version (KJV)

Ye have seen what I did unto the Egyptians, and how I bare you on eagles' wings, and brought you unto myself.
Now therefore, if ye will obey my voice indeed, and keep my covenant, then ye shall be a peculiar treasure unto me above all people: for all the earth is mine:
And ye shall be unto me a kingdom of priests, and an holy nation. These are the words which thou shalt speak unto the children of Israel.
And Moses came and called for the elders of the people, and laid before their faces all these words which the Lord commanded him.
And all the people answered together, and said, All that the Lord hath spoken we will do. And Moses returned the words of the people unto the Lord.

Jesus also made reference to this agreement in the parable of the labourers in the vineyard:

Matthew 20:2
And when he had agreed with the labourers for a penny a day, he sent them into his vineyard.

In comparison to the Jews, we are not laborers, since we did not enter an agreement to labour, but entered a covenant of sonship.

2nd. However, this is also a Sacramental teaching. When we receive the Sacraments, we are washed of our sins by God. It is God's work. We can't scrub our souls or cleanse them. We approach the font of grace with the proper attitude of faith. Believing that God can do what He promised.

"And on the basis of faith in His name, it is the name of Jesus which has strengthened this man whom you see and know; and the faith which comes through Him has given him this perfect health in the presence of you all. (Acts 3:16)
Certainly. But don't leave Romans just yet. Faith is that which produces works.
Romans 4:18-20

King James Version (KJV)

18 Who against hope believed in hope, that he might become the father of many nations, according to that which was spoken, So shall thy seed be.
19 And being not weak in faith, he considered not his own body now dead, when he was about an hundred years old, neither yet the deadness of Sarah's womb:
20 He staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief; but was strong in faith, giving glory to God;

Note how Abraham did not hesitate to do what God wanted him to do. His faith impelled him to do so. Faith alone is dead. Faith and works leads to eternal life.

You have no idea what the Scriptures you post mean. You prove that by trying to use any Scripture to contradict God's plan of salvation by grace through faith apart from works.

Shame on you!
It is you who have no idea what the Word of God is saying. But the reason is clear.

1 Corinthians 2:14
But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.

Protestant decry a spiritual discernment of Scripture. Even though that is what Scripture teaches one must do. They teach a literal understanding of Scripture. Even though that is what Scripture condemns:

2 Corinthians 3:6
Who also hath made us able ministers of the new testament; not of the letter, but of the spirit: for the letter killeth, but the spirit giveth life.
Sincerely,

De Maria
