Paraphrasing the Summa

I'm starting a study series on St. Thomas Aquinas', Summa Theologica.  I call it, "Paraphrasing the Summa".  What I'm doing is reading the Summa from the New Advent website.  Then, doing my best to write the same thought in everyday English.  I do that in order to makes sense of it for myself.  Hopefully, my notes will help you make sense of it also.

I'll be posting it soon.  Please be sure to comment.

    1. I'm afraid that one has just been cancelled on that website. But I can begin posting it here.

    2. I don't have the freedom to edit after I submit. So, I'd rather do it here.

    1. Hi Lane,

I hope you like it. My first installment is here.

Its funny. I have always considered the Summa very difficult to understand. Therefore, I had always believed that St. Thomas had aimed his work for seasoned theologians.

But when I read his introduction to the Summa, I was surprised to find out that he aimed to make his work so simple that even the newest students could understand it.

Having read a few of his articles, I wonder whether he failed to do what he intended or whether something was lost in the translation?

I'm trying to break it down for my own understanding. Let me know what you think.
