Jesus said:
'We played the flute for you, but you did not dance.
We sang a dirge, but you did not weep.' Matt 11:17
In the past, Protestants would complain that I used the Catholic versions of the Bible to prove Catholic doctrine. They claimed that the Catholic versions were deliberately changed in order to prove the Teachings of the Catholic Church.
So, I switched and began to use the King James version to prove Catholic doctrine. Guess what? Now they complain that I use the KJV and they get tongue twisted in their objections.
Hi Lutero,
You said:
Lets observe the rendition of the bible translations involved ESV and the KJV.
2 Corinthians 5:6-8 (ESV)“So we are always of good courage; we know that while we are at home in the body we are away from the Lord, for we walk by faith, not by sight. We are of good courage, and we would rather be away from the body and at home with the Lord”.
2 Corinthians 5:6-8 (KJV)Therefore we are always confident, knowing that, whilst we are at home in the body, we are absent from the Lord: (For we walk by faith, not by sight:) We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord.
They both say the same thing, Lutero. The KJV also includes these verses:
Revelation 2:10
King James Version (KJV)
10 Fear none of those things which thou shalt suffer: behold, the devil shall cast some of you into prison, that ye may be tried; and ye shall have tribulation ten days: be thou faithful unto death, and I will give thee a crown of life.
Revelation 2:10
King James Version (KJV)
10 Fear none of those things which thou shalt suffer: behold, the devil shall cast some of you into prison, that ye may be tried; and ye shall have tribulation ten days: be thou faithful unto death, and I will give thee a crown of life.
Where is that place where Christians will go before they receive a crown of life?
1 Corinthians 3:15King James Version (KJV)15 If any man’s work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire.
What do you call this place where a man is saved as though by fire?
We call that place, Purgatory. As I said, they both say the same thing.
I use the KJV to respond to Protestants. However, it is reputed to be an error filled bible, even by some Protestants. See this Protestant site.
Sincerely,
De Maria
