Not having any understanding of our Jewish forebears

I would second this in that a lot of misunderstanding of just what is practiced by Catholics is the result of not having any understanding of our Jewish forebears, and their practices and beliefs.

There is a saying "...scratch a Catholic...and you find a Jew underneath...". A lot of what I read here in terms of mis-presenting and mis-stating Catholic understanding, practice and belief is by those who appear to know absolutely nothing of Judaism.

Reforma says:

"Behold, I will make them of the synagogue of Satan, which say they are Jews, and are not, but do lie; behold, I will make them to come and worship before thy feet, and to know that I have loved thee." (Rev. 3:9)

Let's see that verse in context:
⁷ And to the angel of the church in Philadelphia write; These things saith he that is holy, he that is true, he that hath the key of David, he that openeth, and no man shutteth; and shutteth, and no man openeth;
⁸I know thy works: behold, I have set before thee an open door, and no man can shut it: for thou hast a little strength, and hast kept my word, and hast not denied my name.
⁹ Behold, I will make them of the synagogue of Satan, which say they are Jews, and are not, but do lie; behold, I will make them to come and worship before thy feet, and to know that I have loved thee.
¹⁰ Because thou hast kept the word of my patience, I also will keep thee from the hour of temptation, which shall come upon all the world, to try them that dwell upon the earth.
¹¹ Behold, I come quickly: hold that fast which thou hast, that no man take thy crown.

Now, those four little words prove that the Catholic Church is the New Jerusalem and Catholics the New Jews. Because Protestants disdain the works of God and pretend that you can justify yourself by your claims of faith alone. A doctrine of demons which contradicts the Word of God:

But all the Baptized are Jews inwardly:
Colossians 2:

¹¹ In whom also ye are circumcised with the circumcision made without hands, in putting off the body of the sins of the flesh by the circumcision of Christ: ¹² Buried with him in baptism, wherein also ye are risen with him through the faith of the operation of God, who hath raised him from the dead.


Romans 2:28-29

²⁸ For he is not a Jew, which is one outwardly; neither is that circumcision, which is outward in the flesh:
²⁹ But he is a Jew, which is one inwardly; and circumcision is that of the heart, in the spirit, and not in the letter; whose praise is not of men, but of God.

But Protestants believe unbiblical doctrines, disdain the works commanded by God and reject the efficacy of Baptism. Therefore, it is Protestants who have condemned themselves:
Mark 16:16
