Brice Griffin’s Facebook page identifies her as the Rock Mom at the Griffin Household in Charlotte, N.C. When you meet Brice, you can never predict what color her hair might be or guess how many tattoos she might have. But don’t judge this book by its rock’n’ roll cover. Brice is a devout Catholic, a home-schooling, married mother of four, and a passionate pro-life advocate.
Brice has written with unflinching honesty about the abortion she had as a teenager and the healing she found years later at a Rachel’s Vineyard retreat. She has spoken publicly as part of the Silent No More Awareness Campaign, and she has written eloquently about the day she told her children about her abortion.
Zoe Griffin, Brice’s daughter, was just two weeks shy of her 13th birthday when Brice made the shocking revelation.
“I felt like I had been slapped in the face,” Zoe says. “My whole world was rocked. This amazing person, someone I have looked up to my whole life, my pro-life inspiration, had had an abortion.”
Zoe’s pro-life activism then became very focused.
“I want to be able to say I avenged my big brother by abolishing abortion,” she says, “and I am confident that I am part of the generation that will do that.”
Maggie Sweet is the mother of four children, including one she lost to abortion. She is the regional coordinator for the Silent No More Awareness Campaign in Lehigh Valley, Pennsylvania.
Abortion has impacted many members of Maggie’s family, including her living children, and her brother and sister, who both lost children of their own to abortion.
Maggie found healing through Rachel’s Vineyard but her pro-life activism began with a chance encounter while she was working in her parish gift shop and counseled a young woman against choosing abortion.
A year later, the woman returned to the shop accompanied by her infant son.
I picked him up, kissed him, lifted him up in the air and exclaimed, “God this one’s for you,” Maggie says. “That was the greatest moment of my life. Before that miracle I had hoped the abortion problem would someday go away, but then discovered I was part of the problem because I wasn’t part of the solution.”
Since that day, Maggie has been part of the solution.
