The works which Jesus commanded; those works.

PG:  Obedience to what works?
Obedience to God.

Hebrews 5:9
King James Version (KJV)
9 And being made perfect, he became the author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey him;

Salvation is by faith; faith is demonstrated by works.
Again, what works had you in mind?
The works which Jesus commanded;

John 14:21-23
King James Version (KJV)
21 He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him. 22 Judas saith unto him, not Iscariot, Lord, how is it that thou wilt manifest thyself unto us, and not unto the world?
23 Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him.

Matthew 25:31-46
King James Version (KJV)
31 When the Son of man shall come in his glory, and all the holy angels with him, then shall he sit upon the throne of his glory: 32 And before him shall be gathered all nations: and he shall separate them one from another, as a shepherd divideth his sheep from the goats: 33 And he shall set the sheep on his right hand, but the goats on the left. 34 Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world: 35 For I was an hungred, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in: 36 Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me. 37 Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, and fed thee? or thirsty, and gave thee drink? 38 When saw we thee a stranger, and took thee in? or naked, and clothed thee? 39 Or when saw we thee sick, or in prison, and came unto thee? 40 And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me. 41 Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels: 42 For I was an hungred, and ye gave me no meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me no drink: 43 I was a stranger, and ye took me not in: naked, and ye clothed me not: sick, and in prison, and ye visited me not. 44 Then shall they also answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, or athirst, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and did not minister unto thee? 45 Then shall he answer them, saying, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye did it not to one of the least of these, ye did it not to me. 46 And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal.

Those works.

Sincerely,

De Maria

Soooo? You don't know if you're saved?

DS:  I get tired of this blatant lie. You deny Scripture and you call God a liar. We do NOT judge ourselves saved.
Soooo? You don't know if you're saved?

You're arguing a straw man.
So, you don't consider yourself saved?

We believe and do what God says to do to be saved in His word.
You do something to be saved? So, why do you complain that we do too?

And then His own word tells us that we can know we have eternal life yet you keep insisting that we cannot know.
Let's look at that verse in more context:
1 John 5
King James Version (KJV)
1 Whosoever believeth that Jesus is the Christ is born of God: and every one that loveth him that begat loveth him also that is begotten of him.

2 By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God, and keep his commandments.

3 For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous.

4 For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith.

So, the faithful are those who keep the Commandments.

5 Who is he that overcometh the world, but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God?

And they who have proven their faith AND LOVE of Christ by keeping the Commandments, overcome the world.

6 This is he that came by water and blood, even Jesus Christ; not by water only, but by water and blood. And it is the Spirit that beareth witness, because the Spirit is truth. 7 For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one. 8 And there are three that bear witness in earth, the Spirit, and the water, and the blood: and these three agree in one. 9 If we receive the witness of men, the witness of God is greater: for this is the witness of God which he hath testified of his Son. 10 He that believeth on the Son of God hath the witness in himself: he that believeth not God hath made him a liar; because he believeth not the record that God gave of his Son. 11 And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. 12 He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life.

Sooo, IF, you believe in God and keep His Commandments, then you know you have eternal life. That's the context before this verse.
13 These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.

Do you keep His Commandments?

Now just who are we to believe, you or God?
God:1 Corinthians 4:5
King James Version (KJV)
5 Therefore judge nothing before the time, until the Lord come, who both will bring to light the hidden things of darkness, and will make manifest the counsels of the hearts: and then shall every man have praise of God.

Stop with this nonsense. I am saved, not because I declare it, but because it's so due to my coming to Christ and believing on Him and the Spirit's witness to mine.
Then you have judged yourself. You may have your reward. I will await God's judgement upon me.

Now keep calling God a liar if you want to but the Bible doesn't agree iwith you.
The Bible doesn't agree with you picking a verse out of context.

1 John 5:13

King James Version (KJV)

13 These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.
Sincerely,

De Maria

For the month of July, the Healing the Shockwaves of Abortion initiative focused on healing those who may have helped a friend or family member have an abortion. Margaret Palladino, a New Mexico resident who is part of the Silent No More Awareness Campaign, regrets the advice she gave her sister.
“I love my sister very much and I cared about her and her ‘problem,’ Margaret says. “I wanted her to be happy. In my mind, her only option was abortion. I never considered offering to help raise her child or helping her through an adoption. I was smug, self-righteous and convinced that I was right.”
But when Margaret came back to the Catholic Church, she began to realize how wrong she had been. Join Janet Morana and Father Frank Pavone as they talk to Margaret about her own healing.

Grace before meals

My hat’s off to you, RB!

In my many travels down the virtual world of Christian Apologetics, I met up with a very unique fellow.  Roberty Bob.
This is a guy who has been arguing beside me against all Protestants in every debate where we happened to find each other.  Together, I felt, as though we were defending Catholic Doctrine, hammer and tong!  But once, I referred to him and I as, “we, Catholics.”  And he cryptically responded, “I’m not Catholic.”  Which threw me for a loop.  But I assumed he must be an Anglo-Catholic or Episcopal or something.
But, as I was reviewing some of my arguments on the net, as I frequently do, I found the following:
roberty bob said in message #629
May 11, 2015 at 1:48 pm
1 I confess Christ as my Savior and my Lord.
2 I acknowledge my sin, and trust in Christ’s atoning blood.
3 I believe, in line with Paul, that I am justified by faith, and have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.
4 I believe, in line with James, that a man is justified by works and not by faith alone; the works give evidence of a faith that is true and living.
5 I believe that I have been saved by grace; salvation is the gift of God, not a wage or payment owed to me by God for what I have done for him.
6 I believe, in line with John, that Christ calls me to love him and obey his commandments; keeping his commandments shows that the love for him is real and that I am abiding in the true vine.
7 I believe that baptism is the union sacrament by which the Christian believer [or child of professing believer(s)] is received as a member of the church, the body of Christ. I do not believe that the water by itself regenerates as Jesus says “water and Spirit.” However, I hold that there is more going on in baptism than the baptized person giving his testimony or showing a word picture of the new birth. Our triune God is the prime actor in baptism — naming and receiving this one as his own and clothing him with Christ. Baptism is fundamental, and therefore necessary, in some sense. Nailing down what that means poses quite a challenge.
8 I am not a member of the Roman Catholic Church.
9 I am a member of a Protestant Church. Born / baptized into a Protestant Church — baptist during childhood and youth — returned to Protestant Church in young adulthood and have remained there.
And I am stunned.
But I admire, RB and his capacity to understand Catholic Doctrine and to defend it. I’ve not met any Protestant anywhere, in twenty plus years of interfaith debate, who understood and defended Catholic Doctrine as well as he does.  In fact, he does so better than many practicing Catholics.  It has been a pleasure and a blessing to know him.
Sincerely,
De Maria

This is Life with Lisa Ling - Called to the Collar

Journey Home, the Franklins

Hm?  I could have sworn there were more videos with Mr. Franklin, but I couldn't find anymore.  Maybe that's because they mention him so often in the others.  Anyway, enjoy!

When I copy an excerpt from a website, I post a link.

TG:  That size 3 business is what happens when someone copies from another web site, just ask Pilgrim about that one. I usually end up going back to edit my own words to make sure the quote is distinct. But demaria, he never lets us know where he gets his stuff from.
When I copy an excerpt from a website, I post a link. 99% of what I post on this forum is my own.

Or maybe he is bucking for a promotion.
The only one I'm trying to please is God.

Sincerely,

De Maria

Protestants teach that they have no authority to bind anyone's conscience. Yet that's what they are always trying to do.

PB:No one is doing that more than your church, and most of us disagree with your Churchs interpretation of scripture.
There are many things wrong with your position.

First of all, your church teaches that you have no authority to bind anyone with your interpretation of Scripture. Yet, that is what you are doing here on this forum.

Second, again, your church teaches that you have no authority to impose upon anyone your interpretation of Scripture, therefore it doesn't matter that you disagree with our Church. You still have no authority to do so. Not from your Church and not from ours.

Third, Scripture says that the Church does have the authority to bind those who believe in Jesus:
Matthew 16:19

King James Version (KJV)

19 And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.

Matthew 18:17

King James Version (KJV)

17 And if he shall neglect to hear them, tell it unto the church: but if he neglect to hear the church, let him be unto thee as an heathen man and a publican.

Hebrews 13:17

King James Version (KJV)

17 Obey them that have the rule over you, and submit yourselves: for they watch for your souls, as they that must give account, that they may do it with joy, and not with grief: for that is unprofitable for you.

In declaring that the Church can't bind you, you are contradicting the Word of God in the Bible. Yeah, you guys love to ridicule Catholics by saying, "you check in your brains at the door." But you are ridiculing us for being obedient to the Word of God which says:
Proverbs 3:5

King James Version (KJV)

Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.

2 Peter 1:15-22

King James Version (KJV)

19 We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts:
20 Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation.
21 For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.

Sincerely,

De Maria

WHAT PLANNED PARENTHOOD DOES AND DOES NOT DO

A few days ago I posted a link on my Facebook wall to one of the videos concerning the recent Planned Parenthood scandal. In a response, one of my friends wrote “…in low income and rural areas planned parenthood is the only clinic available to women for women’s health”. My friend Rachel asked what kind of services they provide, but never received a reply.
Well, undeterred, Rachel did some digging and yesterday she posted a link on my wall to something posted by Abby Johnson, a former Planned Parenthood employee. I wanted to reproduce it here in its entirety:....

The grace of God, poured out in Baptism, changes us from within

FH:So baptism doesn't leave any indelible mark on anyone kirby, nor does Scripture teach this nonsense....and if it does leave a mark, then it is pretty useless...given that baptism doesn't save....

TP:The person is changed by baptism, peace
SW:The only thing that changes is ones diapper especially the babies in your church. Water baptism neither saves or changes anyone.
DS : Really how can they even believe this stuff?

You don't believe that the grace of God changes us?

Wow? Reformed theology is far more deprived than I thought.

Sincerely,

De Maria

You first. Show me one Scripture that says we need to hold to Scripture alone

LG:Show me one scripture where an apostle listens to a confession and hands out penance.
It doesn't happen.  Its a made up story.
You first. Show me one Scripture that says we need to hold to Scripture alone. Or one that says we need to hold to faith alone. They ain't there. Man made doctrines.

Sincerely,

De Maria
