Praise Mary

Scripture says that God's will should be done on earth as it is in heaven.
And God wills that the Angels praise Mary:....Read more.

You deny the Mary of Scripture her proper place in salvation history

LG:  And Stephen, full of grace and power, was doing great wonders and signs among the people. (Acts 6:8) esv
Stephen was called full of grace, which, in Greek, is Plaras Charitos. Full of grace is the correct translation
Look it up yourself

2. Anyway, charitos is NOT the same word. Kecharitomene means EVER full of grace. Or ALWAYS full of grace. Charitos simply means "grace".

That is not what I said. What I said is this:
The word Lord was used, not God.
Why didn't she say "mother of my God"? hmmmm
Because Lord means God to the Jews. As it does to us, actually.

John 20:28

King James Version (KJV)

28 And Thomas answered and said unto him, My Lord and my God.

If Elizabeth meant God she would have said God. She did not.
She meant God as is evident from the context.
1. The Spirit inspired her. The Holy Spirit does not inspire error.
2. She would not consider her nephew her Lord in any other respect.
3. Jesus is God from the womb.

Nothing ever in scripture tells us to pray to Mary. Sorry
I have already explained why you should. Your simple denial carries little weight.

It does say he was full of grace in the greek. Your problem is that you misunderstand kecharitomene.
Your problem is that you follow the traditions of men.

I would note she was blessed ABOVE...Mary was only blessed AMONG
Since no other woman was elected to bear the Son of God, it is abundantly clear that she was blessed not only above all women, but above all men except her only Son.

Actually, I defend the biblical Mary, the humble handmaiden of the Lord, against the monstrosity the RCC has made her into.
On the contrary, you deny the Mary of Scripture her proper place in salvation history and in so doing slap the face of her Creator.

Sincerely,

De Maria

Mary the mother of the Messiah

Maggie:  Scripture does not tell us that the woman in Revelation is Mary. Try again?
Yes it does. The woman of Rev 12 is the mother of the Messiah. Do you deny it? Christ is the Messiah.

Matthew 1:16

King James Version (KJV)

16 And Jacob begat Joseph the husband of Mary, of whom was born Jesus, who is called Christ.

For some reason, those who believe in Sola Scriptura find this teaching objectionable. Perhaps they don't believe all of Scripture?

Lutero
I would think that Jesus calling Mary mother might be considered an attribute.
 Cathy
please stop making sense.......it goes against all the superstitious nonsense the protestants teach as doctrine and manmade religions in their frenzy they even attack the mother of God

Let's see, I think someone asked where to find the Assumption of Mary. It is in Rev 12:1.

The Apostle John has seen a woman in heaven. This woman is the mother of the Christ. Scripture tells us that the mother of Christ is Mary:

Matthew 1:16

King James Version (KJV)

16 And Jacob begat Joseph the husband of Mary, of whom was born Jesus, who is called Christ.

For some reason, those who believe in Sola Scriptura find this teaching objectionable. Perhaps they don't believe all of Scripture?

De Maria

Israel is not a woman.

Roger:  Nothing at all to do with Mary.... Nor did she give birth in the heavens...
Revelations is written in a mystical language which makes representations of the truth. The Woman who gives birth to the Messiah in heaven represents Mary giving birth to Jesus in the Kingdom of God.

The woman is ISRAEL.
You contradict yourself. Israel is not a woman. He is a man. And, he certainly could not give birth to Jesus in heaven or anywhere else.

De Maria

January 1, 2015 Solemnity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, the Mother of God

The Octave Day of Christmas

Scripture proclaims Mary the Mother of God:

Luke 1:43
And whence is this to me, that the mother of my Lord should come to me?

And so she is.  She is the mother of Jesus.  Jesus is God.  Therefore, she is the Mother of God.

Read more about the Mother of God.  And more.

On the eighth day of Christmas, my True Love gave to me...eight maids a milking.

The eight maids a milking symbolize the eight beatitudes of Jesus Christ.  The beatitudes come from the  heart of the Church which is the bride of Christ.

Isaiah 66:10-12
King James Version (KJV)
10 Rejoice ye with Jerusalem, and be glad with her, all ye that love her: rejoice for joy with her, all ye that mourn for her:
11 That ye may suck, and be satisfied with the breasts of her consolations; that ye may milk out, and be delighted with the abundance of her glory.
12 For thus saith the Lord, Behold, I will extend peace to her like a river, and the glory of the Gentiles like a flowing stream: then shall ye suck, ye shall be borne upon her sides, and be dandled upon her knees.

Lectionary: 18

Reading 1 from the Holy Book of Numbers
Nm 6:22-27

The LORD said to Moses:
“Speak to Aaron and his sons and tell them:
This is how you shall bless the Israelites.
Say to them:
The LORD bless you and keep you!
The LORD let his face shine upon
you, and be gracious to you!
The LORD look upon you kindly and
give you peace!
So shall they invoke my name upon the Israelites,
and I will bless them.”
The Lord recited a prayer to Moses and instructed him to teach it to Aaron and his sons.  Who is Aaron?  Aaron is Moses' elder brother.  He is the first High Priest of God, appointed by God.  Both Moses and Aaron are from the tribe of Levi.

Responsorial Psalm
Ps 67:2-3, 5, 6, 8

R. (2a) May God bless us in his mercy.

May God have pity on us and bless us;
may he let his face shine upon us.
So may your way be known upon earth;
among all nations, your salvation.

R. May God bless us in his mercy.

May the nations be glad and exult
because you rule the peoples in equity;
the nations on the earth you guide.

R. May God bless us in his mercy.

May the peoples praise you, O God;
may all the peoples praise you!
May God bless us,
and may all the ends of the earth fear him!

R. May God bless us in his mercy.

On this day, we must understand, that the blessing of God, came to us through Mary, the Mother of God.  The blessing of God, is God made man, Jesus Christ.

Reading 2 from the Epistle of St. Paul to the Galations.
Gal 4:4-7

Brothers and sisters:When the fullness of time had come, God sent his Son,born of a woman, born under the law,to ransom those under the law,so that we might receive adoption as sons.
The key words I focus upon, on this day, are BORN OF A WOMAN.  And what a woman!  Conceived without sin, united to the Holy Spirit from the moment of her conception.  Lived her entire life without committing a sin.

We received the blessing of God, through this wonderful woman.
As proof that you are sons,
God sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts,
crying out, “Abba, Father!”
So you are no longer a slave but a son,
and if a son then also an heir, through God.
We are sons of God.  Born of the same mother.  Mary is the mother of all who keep the testimony of Jesus Christ and the Commandments of the Father.
Revelation 12:17
King James Version (KJV)
17 And the dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ.

Alleluia HEB 1:1-2

R. Alleluia, alleluia.
In the past God spoke to our ancestors through the prophets;
in these last days, he has spoken to us through the Son.
R. Alleluia, alleluia.
Gospel

A reading from the Holy Gospel according to St. Luke
Lk 2:16-21

The shepherds went in haste to Bethlehem and found Mary and Joseph,
and the infant lying in the manger.
Having heard the message of the Angels, the shepherds hurried to witness the heavenly news they had received.
When they saw this,
they made known the message
that had been told them about this child.
When the shepherds arrived, they reported what the Angels from heaven had told them.
All who heard it were amazed
by what had been told them by the shepherds.
And Mary kept all these things,
reflecting on them in her heart.
And Mary treasured all this information in her heart.
Then the shepherds returned,
glorifying and praising God
for all they had heard and seen,
just as it had been told to them.
Then the shepherds returned to their fields, praising God for all they had heard and seen that night.
When eight days were completed for his circumcision,
he was named Jesus, the name given him by the angel
before he was conceived in the womb.
And in eight days, the family took the child to the Temple in obedience to the Law of Moses.

But Protestants have cast the Word of God out in order to sustain their traditions of men.

Calvin:
Your marian dogmas prove your assertions to be false.
On the contrary:

Revelation 12:1

12 And there appeared a great wonder in heaven; a woman clothed with the sun, and the moon under her feet, and upon her head a crown of twelve stars:

Mary, mother of God, Luke 1:48:
Luke 1:43

King James Version (KJV)

43 And whence is this to me, that the mother of my Lord should come to me?

Very interesting response from PBJ about the phrase "most blessed among women"

Hi PeacebyJesus,

Thanks for responding.

PeaceByJesus said...
De Maria: I responded here to your blog version, and mostly in that order.
Pt. 1.
Luke 1:28 And the angel came in unto her, and said, Hail, thou that art highly favoured, the Lord is with thee: blessed art thou among women.

According to the Biblehub which is a Protestant Scripture website, the KJV, the Darby, the Webster and the World English say, blessed art thou among women.

So you added to Scripture by making "among women" to mean uniquely most blessed above women, which was the issue.
She actually was so blessed, not due to manifest supreme virtue but due to being the vessel God chose to incarnate Himself thru, yet i wanted to see where your text was that stated this.
For actually, this statement was not unique, for as said of another salvific instrument, "Blessed above [or among] women shall Jael the wife of Heber the Kenite be, blessed shall she be above women in the tent." (Judges 5:24)

Jael is called blessed among women because she killed a man in his sleep and thus rescued the Israelites.  Mary is called blessed amongst women, twice, because she will soon conceive the Son of God (Luke 1:28) and because she had conceived the Son of God (Luke 1:42).

But you're equating the killing of a man in his sleep, with giving birth to the incarnate Son of God?

Because the way I read it, Mary is more blessed than any other woman that ever walked the earth because she will soon conceive the Son of God.  In fact, after conceiving the Son of God, St. Elizabeth tells her the very same thing.

Luke 1:42
and she spake out with a loud voice, and said, Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb.

But, tell me.  What woman has received a greater blessing than being the Mother of Jesus Christ?  I'd really like to know.

Sincerely,

De Maria

The Woman of Rev 12 is Mary

Luther:
That is one of the most twisted explanations of scripture I ever saw.
Revelation is not about Mary its about Israel
Who is this Child?
Rev 12:And she brought forth a man child, who was to rule all nations with a rod of iron: and her child was caught up unto God, and to his throne.

I don't know who you think it is, but I say its Christ. And if that is Christ, then the Woman of Rev 12 is His Mother. What does Scripture say?

Matthew 1:16
King James Version (KJV)16 And Jacob begat Joseph the husband of Mary, of whom was born Jesus, who is called Christ.

Rewind: Mary, Ark of the New Covenant

Originally posted:  Monday, August 22, 2011

Ark of the New Covenant (Rev 11:19-12:1)

I have, in the past, discussed this passage with several of our Reformed brothers and sisters.  And they are of the opinion that this verse does not describe the Blessed Virgin Mary.  So, I'd like to visit some Scriptures of which they might not be aware, to perhaps get some understanding as to why the Blessed Virgin Mary is considered the Ark of the New Covenant. Why we consider her so important to our faith. And why we believe she is our mother, given to us by God the Father.

The Virgin Mary Revealed Through Scripture
Revelation 11:19
19And the temple of God was opened in heaven, and there was seen in his temple the ark of his testament: and there were lightnings, and voices, and thunderings, and an earthquake, and great hail.

Revelation 12:1
1And there appeared a great wonder in heaven; a woman clothed with the sun, and the moon under her feet, and upon her head a crown of twelve stars:

Perhaps you will agree with me that the Jews considered the Ark, made of wood, a very important part of their faith. In that Ark of the Old Covenant, were contained the Word of God written by the finger of God on stone tablets, the Rod of Aaron, symbol of the Aaronic High Priesthood and the Manna from heaven (i.e. Bread of heaven).

Perhaps you will also agree that those three things are symbols of Our Blessed Lord, Jesus Christ, who was contained in the Ark which was not made by human hands, the womb of our Blessed Mother.

Hebrews 9:4
Which had the golden censer, and the ark of the covenant overlaid round about with gold, wherein was the golden pot that had manna, and Aaron's rod that budded, and the tables of the covenant;

Luke 1:30-32

King James Version (KJV)

30And the angel said unto her, Fear not, Mary: for thou hast found favour with God.
31And, behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name JESUS.
32He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Highest: and the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of his father David:

The Israelites had a great deal of reverence for this wooden box. They even bowed before it:
Joshua 7:6
And Joshua rent his clothes, and fell to the earth upon his face before the ark of the LORD until the eventide, he and the elders of Israel, and put dust upon their heads.

And they considered it the Glory of Israel:
1 Samuel 4:22
And she said, The glory is departed from Israel: for the ark of God is taken.

Of course, Catholics are frequently berated by Protestants for bowing before images of Our Blessed Mother:

Meet Your Mother: An Introduction to Mary
Luke 1:48 For he hath regarded the low estate of his handmaiden: for, behold, from henceforth all generations shall call me blessed.

Power flowed from this wooden box. So much so, that the Philistines, when they stole it, were forced to return it even though the Israelites did not intervene at all (see 1 Sam Chapter 5).

Reformers berate Catholics because we believe that power now flows through the Virgin Mother.
Revelation 12:17

King James Version (KJV)

17And the dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ.
There are so many parallels between Mary and the Ark of the Old Covenant, that it would take a small book to list them all. For the sake of time, I'd like to simply post a small snippet from a Catholic source:

Compare David and the ark to Luke's account of the Visitation:

In those days Mary arose and went with haste into the hill country, to a city of Judah, and she entered the house of Zechariah and greeted Elizabeth. And when Elizabeth heard the greeting of Mary, the babe leaped in her womb; and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit and she exclaimed with a loud cry, "Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb! And why is this granted me, that the mother of my Lord should come to me? For behold, when the voice of your greeting came to my ears, the babe in my womb leaped for joy. And blessed is she who believed that there would be a fulfillment of what was spoken to her from the Lord" (Luke 1:39-45).Here are the parallels:
    Mary: Handmaid of the Lord
  • Mary arose and went to the hill country of Judea. Ein Kerem (where Elizabeth lived) and Abu Ghosh (where the ark resided) are only a short walk apart. Mary and the ark were both on a journey to the same hill country of Judea.
  • When David saw the ark he rejoiced and said, "How can the ark of the Lord come to me?" Elizabeth uses almost the same words: "Why is this granted me, that the mother of my Lord should come to me?" Luke is telling us something — drawing our minds back to the Old Testament, showing us a parallel.
  • When David approached the ark he shouted out and danced and leapt in front of the ark. He was wearing an ephod, the clothing of a priest. When Mary, the Ark of the New Covenant, approached Elizabeth, John the Baptist leapt in his mother's womb — and John was from the priestly line of Aaron. Both leapt and danced in the presence of the ark. The Ark of the Old Covenant remained in the house of Obed-edom for three months, and Mary remained in the house of Elizabeth for three months. The place that housed the ark for three months was blessed, and in the short paragraph in Luke, Elizabeth uses the word blessed three times. Her home was certainly blessed by the presence of the ark and the Lord within.....
Catholic Culture

I'd like to ask this. Is Scripture telling us that St. Mary's role in salvation history is much more important than Protestant theology teaches? And also, for those who do not believe that she is the ark of the New Covenant, are all these verses merely coincidence?

Sincerely,

De Maria

Mother of my God

When St. Elizabeth greets Mary the Mother of Jesus, she says:

Luke 1 43 And whence is this to me, that the mother of my Lord should come to me?

I believe she is recognizing that Jesus is God and therefore means Mother of my God.

What do you think she means?

Sincerely,

De Maria
