Where does the Bible say that we are to be mediators?

Protestants frequently object that Scripture says,

1 Timothy 2:5 For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;
And therefore, according to them, there are no other mediators.  Which, I believe, misses the point.  Jesus Christ is the one mediator, we are in Jesus Christ, therefore, we mediate through Jesus Christ.  Here’s what Scripture says:
2 Corinthians 5:20 Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ’s stead, be ye reconciled to God.
Again, note the bolded words. Christ is mediator between God and man because He prays for us to the Father, correct?
Here, St. Paul prays for us instead of Christ. In other words, he is performing the role of Christ. He is standing between us and the Father. He is mediating.
An even more shocking revelation is this:
as though God did beseech you by us
He is also performing the role of God to us. He is speaking for God to us. He is mediating in both directions.
You might say, “well, that’s Paul, but how about us?” Well, St. Paul said,
1 Corinthians 11:1 Be ye followers of me, even as I also am of Christ.
In other words, “Follow my example as I follow the example of Christ.”
Does anyone disagree with this?

One Mediator in heaven

Hi Cal,
You said,

“We have One Mediator, in Heaven.”
Certainly. But we have many intercessors on earth and in heaven:
1 Timothy 4:16
Take heed unto thyself, and unto the doctrine; continue in them: for in doing this thou shalt both save thyself, and them that hear thee.
James 5:19-22
King James Version (KJV)
19 Brethren, if any of you do err from the truth, and one convert him; 20 Let him know, that he which converteth the sinner from the error of his way shall save a soul from death, and shall hide a multitude of sins.
This is in accordance with the will of God:
1 Timothy 2:1
I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men;
Christ knows His own, and they inhabit pews of all different stripes down here. Those whom He knows, are His Church.
But many who claim to be members of His Church, are actually not. He knows:
Matthew 7:21
King James Version (KJV)
21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.

Sincerely,

De Maria

Against the Catholic Church

subscription_1.jpg
Hi Lutero,
You also said:

There are many things I object to the Catholic Church.  The Catholic Church burned people at the stake for their faith in the Bible?
The Catholic Church has burned no one at the stake for any reason.  Don't believe the anti-Catholic hype.
The Catholic Church teaches against Scripture.  What about the Bible teaching that He ONLY is the way and mediator as per John14:6 and 1 Timothy 2:5?
We believe that Jesus is the only way and the One Mediator.  That is taught by the Church.  But those concepts are misunderstood by Protestants and twisted unrecognizably.

Jesus is the only way.  And we, all Christians guide people to Him.  As Mary said at Cana, "Do as He tells you (John 2:5)."  All of us are called to that task (1 Tim 4:16; James 5:19-20).

Jesus is the One Mediator of the New Covenant.  As Moses was the one mediator of the Old.  It is Jesus who established the New Covenant, in His Blood.  But we are all called to intercede for each other (1 Tim 2:1) and thus to mediate for each between Jesus and man.  Or do you deny the Great Commission? (Matt 28:19-20).

Sincerely,

De Maria

One Mediator

Lighthouse Catholic Media store

Hebrews 12:24
King James Version (KJV)
24 And to Jesus the mediator of the new covenant, and to the blood of sprinkling, that speaketh better things than that of Abel.

Christ is the "mediator of the New Covenant".

Frequently, Protestants insist that there is only one mediator and therefore deny the intercessory power of the Heavenly Court.

However, Christ is called the mediator of the New Covenant because God established it through Him. Just as Moses was the mediator of the Old Covenant.

Deuteronomy 29:1
King James Version (KJV)
These are the words of the covenant, which the Lord commanded Moses to make with the children of Israel in the land of Moab, beside the covenant which he made with them in Horeb.

There is only one Mediator of the New Covenant in the sense that Christ is He through whom the New Covenant was established. But we are all co-mediators in the sense that we all are called to bring others into Covenant relationship with God.

1 Timothy 4:16
King James Version (KJV)
16 Take heed unto thyself, and unto the doctrine; continue in them: for in doing this thou shalt both save thyself, and them that hear thee.

James 5:20
King James Version (KJV)
20 Let him know, that he which converteth the sinner from the error of his way shall save a soul from death, and shall hide a multitude of sins.

Sincerely,

De Maria
